Privacy Policy
Manana System (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") complies with relevant laws and regulations, including the Personal Information Protection Act, to protect the personal information of users (hereinafter referred to as the "User") who use the mobile application "Manana Japanese" and its integrated services (hereinafter referred to as the "Service"). Through this policy, the Company informs Users about what types of data are collected and for what purposes such data is processed.
Article 1: Information Collected and Methods of Collection
The Company collects or processes the following information for service provision, quality improvement, and security purposes.
1. Information Transmitted to and Stored on the Server
- Account and Login Information: User identifier, email address, profile name or nickname, profile image URL, and authentication tokens provided through Google Sign-In.
- Connection and Device/App Information: Package name, app version, OS information, IP address, and User-Agent.
- Learning and App Usage Information: App session start/end information, main feature usage history, learning/review progress stages, feature usage time, and event logs.
- Sentence Analysis Server Processing Information: User input text transmitted to the server for sentence analysis, analysis mode, token count, vocabulary/kanji analysis results, and processing time.
- Community Usage Information: Community profile information, posts, comments, replies, likes, follows, blocks, reports, and reasons for reports.
- Shared Content Information: Wordbooks created or uploaded by the User, Excel files, wordbook data such as words, meanings, example sentences, and notes, sharing status, and visibility scope.
- Uploaded File Information: File name, file type, file contents, and processing results of files uploaded by the User for wordbook import or sharing.
- Operation and Security Logs: Abnormal authentication attempts, latest DB version inquiries and download records, error logs, and app crash logs.
2. Information Stored Only on the User's Device (Local Data)
This information is not transmitted to the server and is kept only on the User's device.
- App Setting Information: App language, data language, theme, and font settings.
- Learning Convenience Settings: TTS speed and auto-play status, furigana/translation display settings on reading screens, shuffle status, etc.
- Other Local Data: Daily usage count, latest DB release cache, promotion hidden settings, etc.
3. Information Directly Entered or Uploaded by the User
- Email addresses and inquiry details provided during customer support and inquiries.
- Nicknames, profile information, posts, comments, images, reports, and block-related information entered or provided when using Google Sign-In and community features.
- Wordbooks, Excel files, and learning content included in such files that are created or uploaded directly by the User.
- Access logs and cookies generated when using community features or external pages through the in-app WebView.
Article 2: Purpose of Collection and Use of Information
The Company uses the collected information for the following purposes:
- User identification through Google Sign-In, account management, logout, and account deletion processing.
- User identification, authentication processing, and provision of a stable service environment.
- Server processing and returning results for sentence and morphological analysis features.
- Tracking learning statistics, improving features, and optimizing operations through app usage pattern analysis.
- Importing, storing, syncing, sharing, and providing public wordbooks uploaded by the User.
- Creating, sharing, displaying, reporting, blocking, operating, and preventing abuse of community posts and comments.
- Managing the latest app version and providing Japanese learning DB updates.
- Detecting abnormal usage, responding to security events, and fixing service errors and crashes.
- Responding to User inquiries and fulfilling legal obligations.
Article 3: Retention and Use Period of Information
The Company destroys information without delay once the purpose of collection and use has been achieved. However, the following information may be retained for the specified periods:
- Locally stored information in the app: Destroyed immediately upon the User's uninstallation of the app or data initialization.
- Account information: Until account deletion.
- Learning and app usage logs: 1 year from the date of collection.
- Texts requested for sentence analysis and analysis logs: 1 year from the date of collection for statistical and engine improvement purposes.
- Community posts/comments and shared wordbooks: Until the User deletes them or deletes their account. However, content already shared with other users may be deleted, made private, or anonymized in accordance with the service operation policy.
- Reports, blocks, and operation records: Up to 3 years from the date of collection for abuse prevention and dispute response.
- Uploaded files and shared wordbook data: Until the User deletes them or disables sharing.
- Records of inquiries and complaint resolutions: 3 years from the date of completion.
Article 4: Provision of Information to Third Parties
As a general rule, the Company does not provide the User's personal information to external parties. Exceptions are made when the User gives prior consent or when there are special provisions under applicable laws, such as lawful requests from investigative agencies.
Article 5: Consignment of Information Processing and Use of External Services
The Company uses verified external services as follows for stable service operations:
- Firebase Authentication / Google Sign-In: Google account-based login, user identification, and authentication token verification.
- Web Hosting / Cloud Server Infrastructure: Operation of the sentence analysis API, distribution of the learning DB, operation of community features, and storage of access logs.
- Google Play Services: App distribution, updates, payments, and security features.
- Note: If the User navigates to an external service via a link within the app, the privacy policy of that external service applies.
Article 6: Procedures and Methods of Information Destruction
- Destruction Procedure: Information whose purpose of collection and use has been achieved or whose retention period has expired is destroyed without delay in accordance with internal policies.
- Destruction Method: Information in the form of electronic files is safely deleted using technical methods that render the records unrecoverable or irreproducible.
Article 7: Rights of Users and Methods of Exercise
- The User can immediately delete locally stored information at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data on their device.
- Account deletion can be requested in the app through Settings > Account > Delete Account.
- The User may request deletion of their account, learning data, community content, and shared wordbook data through in-app features or by email at admin@mananasystem.com.
- Upon account deletion, account information and personally identifiable information will be deleted. However, minimal records necessary for service operation, security, abuse prevention, dispute response, or compliance with legal obligations may be retained for a certain period in accordance with applicable laws or internal retention standards.
- If the User wishes to delete or suspend the processing of server-collected analysis logs, they may request it through the contact information below, and the Company will take action without delay after verifying the requester.
Article 8: Processing of Community and User-Generated Content
For the safe operation of community features, the Company may process posts, comments, profiles, reports, and block information. Users may report or block other users, and the Company may review reported content or accounts and take measures such as deletion, making content private, or restricting use in accordance with the service operation policy.
Article 9: Measures to Ensure Safety
To protect the User's information, the Company applies technical and administrative measures, including HTTPS encryption for transmission, blocking of abnormal requests, minimization of server access rights, and security log monitoring.
